This project is to design an editorial for an art movement. I picked Japan’s SuperFlat movement, and thank to my professor’s recommendation, I read through Takashi Murakami’s book, Super Flat.

Takashi Murakami is the founder of this movement, so my editorial looks at Super Flat from his perspective and my understanding of his writing. What my editorial does, besides telling the history of Super Flat, is that the text and images are arranged in a relatively chaotic order so that readers can better envision Murakami’s concept of Super Flat.

In order to include more artwork from Super Flat artists, I designed a dust jacket for the book and it can be expanded into a large poster that shows selected artwork and representative words from this art movement.
